The Los Angeles Dodgers lost three minor leaguers in the Triple-A Phase of the Rule 5 Draft on Wednesday. The Rule 5 Draft is an annual occurrence at the MLB Winter Meetings where teams can draft players left off of other teams' 40-man rosters. The Triple-A phase is similar, but adds prospects who have spent at least four years in the minors and are not in Triple-A to Triple-A teams rather than their major league roster.
Joining Beltre in the Australian Baseball League is Dylan Leach, a prospect whom the Blue Jays signed in the summer of 2025. Through 22 plate appearances with the Sydney Blue Sox, the 23-year-old is slashing .118/.273/.118 with two RBIs and two singles. He's also walked (four) more than he's struck out (three). Leach, from Carthage, Texas, attended Carthage High School.
The Atlanta Braves made yet another move this week, this time signing infielder Vidal Brujan to a split contract for the 2026 season. Brujan was acquired by the Braves in August. From there, he appeared in 24 games with a .268 batting average and a perfect fielding percentage. This split contract allows the Braves to gain position player depth while maintaining roster and financial flexibility if he's needed at the major league level.
