Hyperkin announced a new clamp-on style wireless controller created in collaboration with GameSir. The X5 Alteron features similar functionality to GameSir's GameSir G8 Plus that debuted in 2024 with an expanding telescopic mechanism that can clamp onto smartphones, tablets, and several versions of the Nintendo Switch, replacing the Joy-Cons. What sets the X5 Alteron apart is a modular design allowing most of the controls on the front to be swapped out with alternate layouts, buttons, and joysticks.
8BitDo just revealed a new gamepad at CES and it's a doozy. The Ultimate 3E Controller for XBox is a modular marvel that should suit just about any configuration preference. That's because many elements are swappable. There are two different button modules, each with a different feel when pressing down. There are several joystick options, including standard, tall and thick-neck designs. The controller even ships with a pair of D-pad options. One is intended for precision and the other for "smooth, directional rolls."
With the included tool, you can quickly remove the Pro BFG's faceplates to alter the control layout. The modular design allows you to configure the Pro BFG's thumbsticks to match the PlayStation or Xbox layouts (parallel or offset). It also comes with four thumbstick caps, four stick grates, and three D-pad styles: 8-way, 4-way, and the solid square model shown in the promotional images. The module on the right side can be swapped out for the six-button fight pad.
