The MetroLink plans to provide a high-frequency rail connection from Swords to Charlemont, linking Dublin Airport with the city centre and reducing pressure on the existing Luas and bus networks. There will be 16 stations along the route from Swords to Ranelagh, most of which will be underground. An Coimisiun Pleanala decided to grant permission generally in accordance with an inspector's recommendation, which is contained in a 1,600 page report.
