One day after Steve Kerr was ejected for arguing multiple calls, the NBA asserted that officiating actually favored his Warriors down the stretch of their 103-102 loss to the Clippers. Kerr was thrown out after Gary Payton II's blocked layup was not called a goaltend, something the guard later called a missed call and came shortly after Curry's and-1 jump shot was waved off. Lead official Brian Forte later told pool reporter Tomer Azarly that Payton's layup should have been a goaltend,
Kerr was hit with two technical fouls in less than a minute. He nearly got one with 8:44 to play when Warriors guard Stephen Curry made a shot that appeared to be a continuation after a foul, but the officials nullified the basket. Less than a minute later, Kerr found a new level of vehemence after the Clippers' John Collins wasn't called for goaltending on a shot by Gary Payton II.
Lewis cleared several benchmarks, including stress management counseling and training on responsible use of social media, to become eligible to re-join the officiating program. He is scheduled to return to action as a referee during a G League Showcase game between the Osceola Magic and Noblesville Boom at 6 p.m. EST Friday night at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
