1914 - George Davis of the Boston Braves pitched a 7-0 no-hitter against the Philadelphia Phillies in the second game of a doubleheader. Davis' no-hitter was the first thrown at Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox. 1922 - Baby Doll Jacobson hit three triples to lead the St. Louis Browns to a 16-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

1929 - Joe Cronin of the Washington Senators hit for the cycle in a 10-7 win against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. 1937 - For the second time this season, two batters opened a game with home runs. Boze Berger and Mike Kreevich of the Chicago White Sox connected off Boston's Johnny Marcum, en route to a 4-2 win over the Red Sox.

On July 15, 1901, Christy Mathewson of the New York Giants pitched his first no-hitter against the St. Louis Cardinals, winning 5-0.
