In today's game, there's a ton of different ways that you can get things across to players and a ton of different ways to help players get better from an individual standpoint, from a holistic team standpoint. If you're just limiting yourself to one of those things, you're in a tough spot. If I'm boxing myself in any sort of way, I'm a hitting coach that loves to score runs.

The Rockies announced the hiring of former MLB first baseman Brett Pill as their hitting coach. The 41-year-old joins Warren Schaeffer's staff after six seasons with the Dodgers. Pill had spent three years as a Double-A hitting coach in the L.A. system before getting a promotion to minor league hitting coordinator in 2023. Pill is best known for his three-year stint playing in MLB for the Giants. He appeared in 111 games between 2011-13.

Trade speculation on Lowe is an annual offseason tradition. His salaries have escalated over the course of the extension he signed in Spring Training 2019. They've remained below market value for one of the better offensive middle infielders in the sport. That surely has led to a lot of trade interest over the years, but the Rays have valued Lowe highly enough to not bite on anything they've been offered thus far.

Hitting coach Keith Beauregard won't be returning to the Tigers next year, reports Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press. His contract ran through 2025 and he has now decided to leave to pursue new opportunities in baseball. For the past three seasons, the Tigers have had both Beauregard and Michael Brdar serving as hitting coaches. James Rowson worked alongside those two as an assistant in 2023, but he moved on and was replaced by Lance Zawadzki heading into 2024.

GM Dana Brown and manager Joe Espada are sticking around, but that doesn't mean the Astros aren't making big changes. The team is parting ways with hitting coaches Alex Cintrón and Troy Snitker, catching coach Michael Collins, head athletic trainer Jeremiah Randall, and assistant GM Andrew Ball, as relayed by Brian McTaggart of MLB.com and Chandler Rome of The Athletic. It's no shock that the Astros are looking for new blood.

Mendoza, 45, has spent the past two seasons as the Mets' manager. Next season, his third year on the job, is the final guaranteed year of his contract. The Mets hold a club option on him for the 2027 season. Mendoza's Mets went 89-73 in 2024 and made it all the way to Game 6 of the NLCS before falling to the Dodgers. This year's club finished 83-79, missing the playoffs by the narrowest of margins.

Timo Meier recorded 26 goals, 27 assists, and 53 points in 80 games for the New Jersey Devils this past season, reflecting his offensive contributions.
