UK net migration drops below 200,000 for first time since Covid-19 pandemic

UK net migration fell to an estimated 171,000, the lowest since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, driven by fewer non-EU work arrivals.

Alcohol-specific deaths in the UK fell in 2024 for the first time since the Covid pandemic, but rates remain far above pre-pandemic levels.
