On Wednesday, The Sarkis Team, led by George and Manny Sarkis and brokered at Douglas Elliman, launched its very own private exclusive listing platform. According to the announcement, the platform, which is currently hosted on the team's website SarkisBoston.com, debuted with 15 exclusive listings, representing more than $200 million in private listings. Through the website, invited consumers can access SARKIS SOON, an invite-only marketplace, which shows exclusive listings across on-market, pre-market and fully private opportunities.
For homes listed in the upper price tiers, 8.9% were listed privately in majority-white areas, compared to 5.1% in majority-non-white areas. Zillow claims that racial composition, not price, is the more salient influence for more private listings. According to Zillow, limiting who can view a property by listing it in a private listing network can reinforce existing patterns of segregation, especially in markets with a history of racial segregation.
If a listing is marketed directly to consumers without being listed on the MLS and made widely available where buyers search for homes, it will not be published on Zillow.
