Two men were fatally shot in a Cerritos park early Sunday morning, with witnesses reporting that a hail of gunfire had erupted, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. Witnesses told sheriff's homicide investigators that at around 2:30 a.m., several vehicles were parked at the south side of the Cerritos Sports Complex and Skate Park on Bloomfield Avenue. Twenty to 25 gunshots rang out, and the vehicles fled, according to witnesses.

For years, these sections of Courtland Creek were overgrown with vegetation, trash-strewn, unsightly, and clogged with debris. Then, a group of neighbors decided to reclaim them.

It's frustrating to see a place that brings so much joy and connection targeted again. But we will not let a few destructive acts dampen the spirit of Sunset Dunes.

For most of the last 10 years Finsbury Circus Gardens has been closed to the public while it was used by Crossrail to build the nearby Liverpool Street Elizabeth Line station.
