Thanet District Council has approved a Public Spaces Protection Order aimed at combating anti-social behaviour, specifically allowing for fines related to foul language in public spaces when requested by authorities.
Pastor Tunde Balogun emphasized that street evangelism is central to their faith, stating, "As Christians who are committed to our faith, carrying out street evangelism is essential to manifesting our Christian beliefs." He expressed that these restrictions threaten their ability to support and love the community while criminalizing them for their actions.
The PSPO would allow enforcement officers to issue fixed penalty notices after two minutes of observation, improving enforcement against idling vehicle emissions.
