Our manifesto sets out a new direction for Wales one rooted in fairness but driven by ambition. We will take action where it is needed most - cutting NHS waiting times, supporting parents with the cost of childcare, raising standards in our schools, and growing a stronger Welsh economy that works for our communities.

I never expected to own a home. I wasn't born into generational wealth. I grew up poor. There was-and is-no big family inheritance coming my way. Not property. Not cash. Not stocks or bonds or whatever financial instrument one might trade or sell or leverage to join the landed class.

O n January 6, 2021, the day of the Capitol insurrection, many people were transfixed by what they saw in Washington. It was only a heroic effort by the police that kept the insurrectionists out of the House of Representatives, where elected members and staff took refuge behind chairs and under desks. In one sense, the riot, with its outlandish characters wearing costumes and face paint, felt like an absurd exclamation mark that punctuated the end of an erratic presidency.

In January, Alberta premier Danielle Smith issued an extraordinary threat. Unless Prime Minister Mark Carney gave Alberta more influence over judicial appointments, her government would withhold funding from the courts. In an open letter, Smith argued she wanted judges who reflected Alberta's "distinct legal traditions"-though what those traditions are is unclear.

This is an opportunity for the membership to decide not only who the next leader is going to be, but what the future of the party is going to look like. That gives me hope that despite the election result, the NDP is here to stay.

Ontario's premier has repeatedly pushed back in recent weeks against criticism that his government is not providing the province's hospital system with enough funding to address problems like hallway health care. That comes as the association that represents Ontario's hospitals is warning that funding uncertainty is causing critical financial strain.

If summer is for growing things, winter is for learning things.

The agreement committed the Belarusian government to releasing 123 political prisoners, a significant concession from one of Europe's most entrenched authoritarian regimes. In return, Washington agreed to lift sanctions on Belarus's potash exports-sanctions it escalated after the country's rigged 2020 election and later expanded, in 2022, when Belarus allowed Russia to use its territory to invade Ukraine.
