The Garden Bar, MoMA's seasonal outdoor cafe tucked inside the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden , has brought back its ice cream cart for the season and, this year, the flavors are as art-inspired as the galleries themselves. Located just steps from The Modern restaurant, the open-air bar overlooks one of the city's most beloved sculpture gardens, offering a surprisingly peaceful escape from Midtown's usual chaos. Along with beer, wine, cocktails and light snacks, visitors can now cool off with a trio of specialty ice cream flavors created by The Modern's executive pastry chef, Charlotte Brecher.

The 14-foot-tall bronze “SHELTER,” which was made and cast for the Hirshhorn as a commission this year, sits on the northwest corner of the West Overlook, across from the Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building. Passersby will be able to get a good look at it, and that increased visibility has been a goal of the museum's Sculpture Garden renovation, led by artist and architect Hiroshi Sugimoto. The Hirshhorn plans to place several other works across both its West and East overlooks as part of the project.
