The Homekey project at 1237 San Antonio Road has been in the works since fall 2023, when city and state leaders touted its importance in addressing the local and regional housing crisis.

Most people leave doctor visits with prescriptions, but still feel unsure—instructions make sense, but no one asks about their life. In contrast, when a provider knows your name, remembers your story, and explains care in a way that fits you, the experience feels different—and that difference matters.

I never expected to own a home. I wasn't born into generational wealth. I grew up poor. There was-and is-no big family inheritance coming my way. Not property. Not cash. Not stocks or bonds or whatever financial instrument one might trade or sell or leverage to join the landed class.

Locals living near the Irish Glass Bottle site in Dublin have threatened legal action blocking a Johnny Ronan-led consortium from renting or selling new apartments there. The row centres on the provision of affordable housing and a 2018 agreement made when the site was given strategic development zone (SDZ) planning status to fast-track the delivery of almost 4,000 homes.

Haringey is at the heart of north London: it has leafy, affluent areas beside busy urban neighbourhoods; hundreds of restaurants serving cuisine from all over the world; and great parks and open spaces.

One resident of Princeton's Western Section told the room, 'Those of us who own historic homes are subsidizing the community' - and was met with applause.

"Brooklyn has always been a place where movement is part of daily life. But today, Brooklynites, like all New Yorkers, are moving less, feeling more isolated and dealing with elevated rates of chronic diseases."

Campaigner Aysha Hawcutt stated that residents were 'not anti-homes', but believed the Adlington plan was 'the wrong proposal in the wrong place'. She expressed pride in the community's resilience against the development threats.

I understood at a very early age how much place matters and how impactful government services can be on one's life. The Mayor's Office of Equity and Racial Justice was really focused on working with agencies to think about how they're addressing inequity, whether it's through budget as a lever or personnel as a lever, procurement, policymaking. But land use is a lever as well.
