The Dodgers won 12-3 against the Rockies, hitting five home runs, with Rojas achieving his 1,000th career hit.
Toronto Blue Jays announcer Buck Martinez has announced his retirement, ending a career that saw the former big-league catcher call over 4,000 Blue Jays games over four-plus decades in the booth. Martinez made the announcement in a statement Friday, saying after conversations with his wife Arlene, that it was time to pass the torch. The 77-year-old from Redding, Calif., first joined the Blue Jays as a player in 1981 and spent his final six seasons with Toronto.
The Rays and veteran righty Nick Martinez are in agreement on a deal, per Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman of the New York Post. The Boras Corporation client's deal is pending a physical. Martinez is the second free agent swingman whom the Rays have added this offseason. They signed lefty Steven Matz to a two-year, $15MM deal at the Winter Meetings.
Each of the stops along my career path was important to me, but it was with the Giants where I had the most success and spent the most time during my career, Kent said.
