Just because a game looks like a cute Saturday morning cartoon doesn't mean it has to take it easy on you. Mirage: Miracle Quest was recently featured in December's Wholesome Snack 2025 showcase, offering a look at its potent mix of cute and challenging. Along with the game's trailer, the showcase also included the announcement that Mirage: Miracle Quest is getting its first demo, letting potential players take a first look at the charming turn-based RPG themselves.
I wouldn't fault you for being skeptical if a friend told you about the most amazing role-playing game, and one of the first things said was, "It's a port of a moderately successful mobile gacha game, but trust me! It's really great!" But here I am, your friend, telling you that Octopath Traveler 0 isn't merely okay, it's genuinely great.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon is technically the seventh entry in the longrunning crime series, but for all intents it was a fresh start - and the best place to jump in outside of the very first Yakuza. Admittedly, the Yakuza series is a bit hard to explain or define in a succinct way - if you've ever talked to someone who loves these games you've likely heard about its bizarre mix of crime melodrama and utterly off-the-wall weirdness and humor.
I can't say I expected much from Octopath Traveler 0. I've long admired the HD-2D role-playing game series but each new entry eventually leaves me cold. All of the pieces are there but they don't solidify into an experience that's more than the sum of its grindy, retro-infused parts. So I was surprised by just how much I immediately clicked with Square Enix's latest tribute to the genre's pixel art golden age.
