As part of its new futuREady plan unveiled today, the French car company has its sights set on becoming the reference European automaker at a global level by 2030, and electric cars will play a huge role in this new game plan. In total, Renault Group wants to launch no fewer than 22 new models in Europe by the decade's end, and 16 of these will be electric.
BYD, the world's biggest car seller, unveiled a new battery giving its latest electric models more than 600 miles of range. Remarkably, the Chinese motor-maker said 250 miles of range could be injected into its new batteries in just five minutes. If true, the last remaining advantages of petrol cars—long range and quick refuelling—are beginning to disappear.
Chinese EV brand Zeekr has boosted the 001 wagon's voltage from 800 volts to 900 volts for its mid-cycle refresh. Thanks to the extra voltage and new battery cells the car can now charge at over 1 megawatt. For context, America's fastest-charging EVs typically can take 300-400 kilowatts, or around a third of a megawatt. You won't even have time to finish your coffee before this Chinese EV is done charging.
