The incumbent Democratic senator Jon Ossoff, who is not being challenged in this year's primary, is waiting to see which of three leading G.O.P. candidates he will face in the general election. Representative Mike Collins, the founder of a trucking company and a strong supporter of Donald Trump, is the front-runner. He is perhaps most famous for falsely accusing Joe Biden of having "sent the orders" for the assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. Collins's main competitors are Derek Dooley and Buddy Carter.
Bill Cassidy, Louisiana's incumbent Republican senator, has been in Donald Trump's crosshairs since Cassidy voted to convict during the President's impeachment trial in the wake of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. Trump has accused Cassidy, a physician by training, of being "disloyal" for declining to support a MAHA-aligned nominee for Surgeon General. Cassidy has also repeatedly clashed with the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., over his attempts to overhaul the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and to reduce federal vaccine recommendations.
"Notably, groups that are more favorable toward Markey, including women and young voters, are also more undecided than their counterparts; women are ten points more undecided than men (33% to 23%), and 39% of voters under 50 are undecided compared to 21% of voters over 50," said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, in a statement.
