Simply tear the aluminum foil into strips and hang them around your vegetable patch. You can tie them to fences, trellises, plant supports, or even wrap them loosely around the stems of your crops. You can even attach the foil to stakes positioned around particularly vulnerable plants. Alternatively, roll the foil into small balls and use string to hang them near your veggies.
Self-wicking planters allow for more consistent watering of plants, which can be especially useful for beginner gardeners. With a self-wicking planter, you won't need to water your plants as often, and it even gives you the chance to go away for a few days without worrying that your plants will die. The plants can draw on the moisture as needed, so they won't dry out during the day, but at the same time won't have their roots sitting in water, which can lead to root rot.
Using a sharp, sterile tool such as clippers or pruners is essential when harvesting peppers. Pulling them off by hand can damage the plant, leading to fewer fruits.
Using the library for as much as I possibly can. I check out CDs and DVDs instead of paying for streaming. I stopped dealing with the hassle and cost of owning a printer and just print/copy at the library when I need to. My library also has access to free online courses that I sometimes take. I also just like to go sit or wander around and have access to a third space where I don't have to spend money.
