Just weeks before early voting began, the North Carolina State Board of Elections sent letters to more than 241,000 registered voters notifying them that they did not have a driver's license number or partial Social Security number in their voter registration file that was validated when matched to government databases. The board acknowledged that mismatches were frequently caused by minor discrepancies - hyphens, apostrophes, name changes, typos - with no bearing on voter eligibility.

The California Voter ID Initiative is a common-sense and bipartisan way to restore the trust and confidence all voters should have in our election system. The initiative aims to verify the identity of individuals casting ballots in our elections, claiming it would address any concerns about voter fraud.

The British government plans to lower the voting age to allow 16 and 17-year-olds to vote in the next general election as part of reforms.

Commissioner Damian Pardo argued that changing to even-year elections is a much-needed reform that will significantly increase voter participation while saving the city hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"It's very important to vote... Back in the days my grandmother and them had to pay to vote-and they don't think it's important."
