3 weeks agoWomens League Cup: Chelsea hit nine past dismal Liverpool - Soccer News
Chelsea beat Liverpool 9-1 with Johanna Rytting Kaneryd scoring a perfect hat-trick to reach the Women's League Cup semi-finals.
Sam Kerr scored the opening two goals for Chelsea, and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd got a hat-trick. Wieke Kaptein scored twice, with Sjoeke Nusken and Millie Bright also getting on the score-sheet. Jenna Clark headed home for Liverpool, who have failed to win any of their last four games in all competitions and are rooted to the bottom of the Women's Super League.
Some clubs feel the attempt to make the event more appealing to younger audiences through TikTok and influencer involvement was not necessarily a bad idea, but believe the execution lacked the level of professionalism expected for an official competition draw. There was also confusion during the draw when Barry mistakenly dropped one of the balls back into the pot before drawing it out again.
