Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini expressed frustration over striker Ademola Lookman's penalty miss in the team's 3-1 defeat to Club Brugge in the Champions League, which contributed to their elimination with a 5-2 aggregate score. Gasperini stated that Lookman, who had scored a goal prior to the miss, was not reliable for penalty taking, criticizing his poor performance even in training. He also condemned Atalanta captain Rafael Tolói for receiving a red card during the match. Despite being third in Serie A, the team must exit the competition with dignity.
Lookman was not supposed to take that penalty, he is one of the worst penalty takers I've ever seen. He has a frankly terrible record even in training.
Atalanta must leave the Champions League with dignity, having played great games against the likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal and Barcelona.
