Lower Back Pain Drug Shows Promising Results
Briefly

Persica Pharmaceuticals has announced positive results from a clinical trial of PP353, a non-opioid treatment targeting chronic lower back pain stemming from a chronic infection in the disc space. The treatment involves two injections administered four days apart and showed that patients experienced significant reductions in pain within the initial three months, continuing over a year. Despite the promising results from a sample of 44 patients across four countries, additional trials are necessary to confirm efficacy on a larger scale, potentially helping many suffering from lower back pain.
The trial for PP353 showed patients with chronic lower back pain experienced significant improvement after non-opioid injections targeting underlying infections.
"The obvious statistical significance, along with their consistency across a wide range of outcome measures, sets these early results apart from those of our current treatment options for these chronic low back pain patients," said Chris Gilligan.
