Shammout, a graduate of The Ohio State University, is also involved in transit research, being appointed to the Transit Research Analysis Committee, and serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati.
Shammout has been instrumental in the implementation of the agency's Reinventing Metro service improvement plan, which launched in 2021.
