Kia EV9 owners in the U.S. will soon benefit from vehicle-to-home (V2H) integration, enabling their electric SUVs to power homes during outages and manage energy costs effectively. A Wallbox Quasar 2 bidirectional charger is necessary for this feature, allowing the EV's high-voltage battery, which ranges from 76.1 to 99.8 kWh, to be used to supply power. This charger is now available for pre-order with deliveries beginning in June 2023, supporting functionalities like solar charging and load management.
"We're thrilled to open pre-order availability of the innovative Quasar 2 charger, including the Power Recovery Unit, to eligible Kia EV9 drivers," said Enric Asunción, CEO of Wallbox. "This cutting-edge technology allows eligible EV9 owners and lessees to take control of their energy usage and costs, while also providing backup power during power outages."
The electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) has several features including vehicle-to-home, vehicle-to-grid, solar charging and dynamic load management.
