AI is redefining roles in the tech industry - and forcing Gen Z workers to reassess career paths
"Our research illustrates that tech jobs remain highly attractive to Gen Z - yet their expectations are shaping how companies now think about culture, flexibility, career growth, and even the use of AI,"
"While it's tempting to focus automation efforts on entry-level jobs, employers should design these roles as stepping stones to build stronger, more resilient organizations for the future,"
A global Randstad Digital survey found two-thirds of Gen Z tech workers are excited about AI and are already using it, while 43% remain concerned about AI's impact on job security. Millennials show similar enthusiasm at 77% and 41% concern, with Gen X around 38% worried. Many Gen Z workers entered the workforce during a generative AI boom and widespread tech layoffs, putting entry-level roles under particular strain. Research indicates entry-level technology positions have been among the hardest hit. Employers are urged to treat entry-level roles as stepping stones to preserve career progression and talent pipelines.
