Anthropic joins the American AI infrastructure spending spree with a $50 billion investment
"We're getting closer to AI that can accelerate scientific discovery and help solve complex problems in ways that weren't possible before. Realizing that potential requires infrastructure that can support continued development at the frontier,"
"These sites will help us build more capable AI systems that can drive those breakthroughs, while creating American jobs."
Anthropic is investing $50 million in US AI infrastructure, starting with custom-built data centers in Texas and New York. The sites are expected to come online in 2026. The projects are projected to create 800 permanent jobs and 2,400 construction jobs. The investment aims to provide infrastructure to support development of more capable AI systems that can accelerate scientific discovery and solve complex problems. The funding is smaller than recent commitments from larger tech firms, including Meta and Apple. Anthropic has operated for less than five years and is among the most valuable startups, with Google in early discussions to increase its investment.
