Proofig's AI Image Fabrication detector has been trained on a vast dataset of known generative-AI images, using machine learning, pattern recognition, and statistical analysis to flag anomalies suggesting AI generation.
The tool, developed by Proofig, successfully identifies 98% of AI-generated images with a false-positive rate of just 0.02%, although it has its limitations.
Science journal is already employing Proofig's tool for detecting AI images, but it has yet to identify any AI-generated content to date.
Springer Nature is also working on its own AI detection tools called Geppetto and SnapShot, aiming to enhance credibility in scientific publications.
