Google has launched a new feature called "AI mode," which replaces traditional search results with AI-generated summaries of queries. This shift builds on the previous AI Overviews feature, catering to 1.5 billion users. While providing more cohesive answers, AI mode may misinterpret information, leading to inaccuracies. Google encourages users to report mistakes through feedback tools to enhance the system's performance. Although demos showcase its potential for detailed responses, it still faces challenges in delivering precise results for typical search terms.
"As with any early-stage AI product, AI Mode doesn't always get it right," explain spokespersons in this piece of user guidance. "For example, in some cases, AI Mode may misinterpret web content, or miss context, as can happen with any automated system in Search."
"...users to give feedback if they see something that's not right... we encourage you to give feedback through thumbs up / thumbs down so we can continuously improve."
