OpenAI says you can trust ChatGPT answers, as it kicks off ads rollout preparation
"OpenAI previously confirmed that it's testing ads in ChatGPT for free and $8 Go accounts, and now we're seeing early signs of that rollout, at least on Android. As spotted on X, OpenAI has built a full-screen onboarding experience to introduce users to ads in ChatGPT. During onboarding, the company says ads will not change ChatGPT's answers and will remain clearly separated and labeled."
"While ChatGPT won't share your personal information with advertisers, your current chat can still influence the type of sponsored ad shown below the answer. However, OpenAI lets you hide ads, see why something was shown, and clear ad data. As you see in the above image, ads appear as a "Sponsored" block, and tapping the overflow menu brings up options such as hiding the ad, reporting it, or even "Ask ChatGPT" about it."
OpenAI is testing ads in ChatGPT for free and $8 Go accounts and has implemented a full-screen onboarding experience on Android to introduce users to ads. Ads are presented as clearly labeled "Sponsored" blocks and are segregated from ChatGPT's answers. Personal information will not be shared with advertisers, and conversations are kept private from advertisers; OpenAI says it will never sell user data. Current chat content can influence which sponsored ad is shown, but users can hide ads, report them, ask ChatGPT about them, clear ad data, and toggle ad personalization. Ads controls settings allow deleting ad-related data without affecting chats. Ads do not appear for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users.
