Tesla's Optimus humanoid robot has shocked many with its recent dance demonstrations, showcasing advanced rhythmic movements trained in simulation. VP Milan Kovac explained the initial demonstration featured a tethered Optimus as a safety precaution. However, a follow-up video shared by CEO Elon Musk revealed an untethered Optimus performing ballet and modern dance moves. Kovac emphasized that the second demonstration showcased real-time movements, entirely learned in simulation and executed without additional training, potentially paving the way for Optimus to achieve perfect ballet performances in the future.
The movements of the humanoid robot in the video were in real-time. The demonstration was also fully learned in simulation and zero-shot transferred to real without extra training.
Optimus should eventually be able to do ballet movements perfectly. The demonstration also showed Optimus performing ballet and modern dance moves, entirely untethered this time.
