Anthropic's recently released Economic Index explores the types of employees utilizing its Claude chatbot and the tasks they engage in. By analyzing 1 million anonymized conversations, Anthropic took a unique approach by focusing on task similarities across different jobs instead of traditional job titles. The study revealed that software engineering tasks, particularly debugging code, accounted for a significant 37.2% of queries, while writing and editing tasks made up 10.3%. This analysis provides a deeper understanding of how AI is integrated into the workforce.
Using its own Clio system for privacy, Anthropic analyzed 1 million anonymized conversations Claude Free and Pro users had with the chatbot.
