"The scale of the sock monkey reduced adults to a childlike scale, sparking play and wonder amongst onlookers in a childlike way. One of the best parts was seeing people who were just walking down the hill, going about their day, get excited about seeing the piece through the gates and come in to lie on it in the sun!"
"Measuring in at almost 50 feet long, Evans-Munton's enormous soft sculpture was recognized by Guinness World Records last year - but the sculpture was originally created as an 'ode to the toys that are left behind,' the artist said."
Emilia Evans-Munton, a Glasgow School of Art graduate, created an enormous sock monkey sculpture measuring almost 50 feet long, recognized by Guinness World Records. Titled 'Remember I'm Still Here' (2025), the work was fashioned from corduroy and stuffed with straw as an 'ode to toys that are left behind.' Created for the Sculpture and Environmental Art program's degree show, the sculpture was displayed in a university parking lot where it endured weather and viewer interaction. The massive scale reduced adults to childlike proportions, evoking wonder and play. After the degree show, Evans-Munton transported the work to the Field Maneuvers music festival in Norfolk, England, where it accumulated additional wear, dirt, and tears from public engagement.
