Artists offer to replace collectors' works lost in fires
Briefly

Following the January wildfires in Greater Los Angeles, destroyed property remains a pressing issue, especially for sentimental items. Photographer Martin Schoeller has committed to replacing damaged artworks for victims such as reality stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. By reprinting editions at cost, Schoeller aims to show that while loss is devastating, some artists can help mitigate damage. His unique policy, which has been in place for decades, emphasizes compassion and integrity in the art community, encouraging others to consider similar acts of support for those affected by disaster.
"Things happen in life we can't control, like fires, theft, natural disasters. As long as I’m able, I want to give people something they lost."
"Schoeller's studio has replaced around a dozen lost, damaged or destroyed works in the past 20 years, showing his commitment to artists' integrity."
