Artists protest new NEA restrictions
Briefly

A group of 463 artists, led by writer and director Annie Dorsen, signed a letter asking the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to rescind changes influenced by Donald Trump's executive orders. The letter criticized rules that limit arts funding for projects promoting diversity, equity, and LGBTQ+ representation. Artists argue that the ongoing administration's policies betray the NEA's commitment to inclusive art, stating that the arts should represent everyone. The letter calls for a rollback of compliance restrictions that impose ideological limitations on grant applicants.
The letter specifically called for the NEA to roll back compliance rules for the Grants for Arts Projects, which now require applicants to abide by two executive orders issued by Trump.
Trump and his enablers may use doublespeak to claim that support for artists of color amounts to 'discrimination' and that funding the work of trans and women artists promotes 'gender ideology' (whatever that is).
