David Hockney has a deep connection with spring, particularly illustrated through his works inspired by the Yorkshire countryside where he grew up. His painting of Garrowby Hill graces the cover of a notable magazine issue, reflecting his longstanding affinity with the area. Currently, he is showcasing a significant retrospective titled "David Hockney 25" at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, the largest exhibition of his artwork to date, which brings joy and meaning, highlighting the journey of his artistic life.
"I've known this countryside quite intimately since the early fifties, when I came here to work on a farm during breaks from school, helping with the harvesting of corn," Hockney told me.
"You can't really judge a painter until his last work is done. In the last year, he might certainly change and do something different," he said.
"This exhibition means a great deal to me. I'm thrilled to be able to see a lot of my life's work up on the walls. Not many people can do that."
