Plowright spent the next 28 years closely associated with Olivier's stage work as actor and director, her talent shining in a range of notable productions.
After he died in 1989, she came into her own in such films as Tea with Mussolini, showcasing her ability to excel as solo artist beyond Olivier's shadow.
She was as amusing as she'd ever been when appearing as herself...gossiping, storytelling and cracking wise with fellow acting legends.
