NPR host Adrian Ma remembers his girlfriend who died in D.C. plane crash
Briefly

On January 30, NPR's Adrian Ma learned about a tragic plane crash involving American Airlines flight AA5342, which his girlfriend, Kiah Duggins, was on. Arriving at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport expecting her, Adrian grew worried when he noticed an unusual number of emergency vehicles. Attempts to gather information from airline staff resulted in vague responses. It wasn't until a friend's call mentioned the crash that the fear set in. Desperately searching for information, he hoped for just a few survivors, but ultimately, there were none.
"That night, I arrived at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport a little before 9 p.m. to pick up Kiah. I was expecting a text or a call when she landed, but none came."
"As I saw the arrival board didn’t show Kiah’s flight number, I approached an employee. The response I got was just a blank expression, and I knew something was wrong."
