Rajiv Menon Contemporary, a new gallery with focus on South Asian art, opens in Hollywood
Briefly

Rajiv Menon Contemporary opened its debut exhibition 'Exhibitionism' in its new Hollywood space, showcasing over 20 works by 19 artists of South Asian descent. The exhibition, running until 30 March, examines the themes of privacy and attention through the lenses of intimacy and domesticity. Menon, the gallery's founder, highlighted the lack of opportunities for showcasing South Asian art in North America as his motivation. Since its temporary inception in Silver Lake, the gallery has received encouraging responses from collectors, both within the South Asian community and beyond.
"I felt incredibly inspired by the depth of talent I was seeing coming out of the South Asian diaspora, but I started to get really frustrated, because there weren't a lot of outlets in North America to see the great emerging work."
"We had huge support from within the South Asian diaspora and collectors in India, but we also saw really strong interest from just broad collectors with global sensibilities."
