In 1620, the young artist Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velazquez painted a portrait of Mother Jeronima de la Fuente, an influential nun who played a key role in founding the first convent in the Philippines. The artwork features her holding a book and a crucifix, showcasing her strength and resolve. For the first time, this iconic portrait, alongside a bronze model of Christ inspired by Michelangelo, will be displayed at the TEFAF art fair in March 2024, highlighting their significance in both art and religious history.
