Following the release of long-time center David Andrews, the New England Patriots selected center Jared Wilson from the University of Georgia in the draft. Wilson, considered the best pure center in the draft, is anticipated to be Andrews' long-term replacement. He has conversed with former Bulldogs player Ben Jones, receiving mentorship on rookie experiences and adapting to the NFL. Wilson acknowledged the inevitability of mistakes during training and commended coach Mike Vrabel for his approachable nature and understanding of the game.
I've probably talked to Ben personally - maybe two or three times he came to practice. We just talked. He'd come out [to Georgia] and watch practice.
Take it slow, take it day-by-day, you're going to make mistakes. Like I'm thinking about a mistake that I made in practice right now and it's running in my head.
Vrabel is a funny guy. He's definitely a player's coach. He played in the league for a really long time, so he knows what it's supposed to look like.
