The city plans to overhaul its short-term rental regulations to manage the industry, encourage participation, and ensure collection of Hotel Occupancy Tax from over 10,000 STRs.
Public hearings are set to begin on Feb. 4, continuing on Feb. 11 and 27, with proposed changes aimed at making STR licensing easier and requiring tax collection.
STR ownership will be limited to one property per 1,000-foot radius for smaller sites, while larger properties will see a cap of one unit or 25% of total units.
Platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo must ensure listings are for valid STR licenses and are obligated to collect and remit applicable hotel taxes on behalf of operators.
