VTA’s General Manager announced that three of the agency's unions ratified new contracts, resulting in pay raises and improved benefits. However, the largest union, the ATU Local 265, which represents over 1,500 frontline workers, has not reached an agreement and expresses ongoing dissatisfaction with treatment from the agency. ATU Local 265 has been negotiating for eight months and previously went on strike. Their president criticized the agency for the lack of respect shown to frontline workers and noted that they have not received competitive offers.
"The offers reflect what the agency thinks about its workforce. When it comes to the frontline workers, it's always been that we've been treated a little different and there's been no respect."
"We are proud to have reached successful agreements with three of our unions, showcasing their willingness to accept a fair offer that benefits everyone involved over the next four years."
