Bayern Munich CEO punts on Leon Goretzka contract question
Briefly

Leon Goretzka has found himself as a regular starter for Bayern Munich, primarily due to injuries impacting teammates Aleksandar Pavlović and João Palhinha. His strong performances also led to a spot in the German national team for UEFA Nations League matches. With his contract running until 2026, there's speculation about his future at the club, especially as this summer may represent the last chance for Bayern to secure a decent transfer fee. The club's executives are considering his situation while he continues to perform well on the field.
"This is first of all the responsibility of Max Eberl and Christoph Freund who are leading the discussions. Leon's contract runs until 2026," Dreesen explained.
"He [Goretzka] is playing almost every game for us. Vincent is using him, and he's doing a great job. Everything else remains to be seen."
Goretzka has enjoyed a run of consistent starts for Bayern ever since the middle of February, right around the time when Pavlović was struggling with an illness.
His current contract with Bayern runs through June 2026, so this coming summer would realistically be the last window for the club to sell him for a decent transfer fee.
