Bayern Munich suffered a 1-2 home defeat to FC Augsburg in the Bavarian derby, their first Bundesliga loss of the season. The defeat came against a side sitting 15th in the table and dented pride in front of the home fans. Multiple defensive injuries forced Kompany into makeshift full-back choices, with Alphonso Davies at right-back and Hiroki Ito at left-back. Ito scored with a header after 23 minutes and Bayern held the lead until the 75th minute. The result preserves Bayer Leverkusen's unique status as the only Bundesliga team to have completed a season unbeaten until at least the next season's completion. Bayern face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday.
