Marlen Reusser, now with Movistar, reflects on her journey from injury and illness to becoming a key contender for the Spring Classics. After a challenging previous season, she appreciates the team's supportive structure and clearer role hierarchy compared to her experience with SD Worx. While SD Worx emphasized a collective leadership during major races, Movistar offers her the opportunity to take on a primary leadership role alongside teammate Liane. This transition, while creating some pressure, has reinvigorated her competitive spirit as she prepares for the Flanders race.
"Whereas Movistar is a Spanish team, their identity is maybe less the Classics, more the GC races... So I think it's very different, and for me, my role changes."
"The team is also really strong for the Classics. I think Flanders was the craziest with having Demi, Lotte, Lorena and me with four leaders."
"But here it's pretty clear roles - it's Liane and me as leaders, we get the full support of the team... being able to save myself and try in the moment something I want to try is really a big privilege."
