Pint-sized crustacean named after New Zealand brewery to boost interest in marine life
Briefly

The approximately 1.5mm marine isopod named Pentaceration forkandbrewer was created to celebrate a local brewery after it won the best beer competition at the congress.
We wanted a unique way to showcase and celebrate our marine world, said marine biologist Rachael Peart, highlighting Wellington's fondness for locally made beer.
The beer competition aimed to engage the public with the extraordinary diversity of crustaceans in New Zealand, especially in the face of climate change.
Head brewer Brayden Rawlinson explained their winning beer was savory, complex, and inspired by the low country boil-up from the southeastern states of the US.
