Faction Bike Studio has unveiled the Atlas, a gravel bike designed around 32-inch wheels, serving as a testing platform for oversized wheel performance. The bike addresses technical challenges such as increased axle-to-crown height by utilizing a -35 degree stem to maintain aerodynamics. The frame supports 2.1-inch tires and features a bonded construction with carbon tubes and aluminum lugs. Key components include a TRP/Classified drivetrain and Easton carbon rims. The Atlas will be showcased at the Sea Otter Classic, although production models are not expected.
"The Atlas features a -35 degree stem to counteract the increased axle-to-crown height that comes with 32-inch wheels, preserving rider aerodynamics."
"The frame accommodates 2.1-inch tires while achieving 435mm chainstays, demonstrating that larger wheels can work with relatively short rear-end geometry."
"Bonded frame construction developed in-house uses carbon tubes and aluminum lugs, showcasing innovative design in the gravel bike segment."
"The bike includes a TRP/Classified Vistar Powershift drivetrain and Easton 32-inch carbon rims, indicating a shift in component availability for larger wheel sizes."
