Primož Roglič is a favorite for the Volta a Catalunya, with his team, Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe, feeling confident but relaxed about his chances. While the Volta is significant, especially with a tough stage coming, it mainly acts as a foundation for the upcoming Giro d'Italia and Tour de France. Team manager Ralph Denk praised Roglič’s early performances, noting that even without crucial teammates for this event, it supports critical team-building as they aim for success in Grand Tours. The familiarity with crucial stages like La Molina plays a key role as he prepares for the challenges ahead.
"Stage 3 is the first big day of the Volta, a really tough mountain stage and I think every contender here will go deep," Denk told Cyclingnews before stage 2.
"He knows the stage, la Molina is in the Volta every year, so let's see. But we are quite optimistic," Denk remarked about Roglič's prospects.
