On January 20, 2025, Annie Ford, a marine scientist and environmental activist from Tasmania, achieved a world record by descending 55,747 meters in 24 hours at Coronet Peak Bike Park, New Zealand. Riding her Santa Cruz V10 bike for 133 laps, she covered 412 km while fundraising to support reforestation in the area. Following her ride, she expressed heartfelt gratitude on social media, emphasizing the importance of community support and the sense of accomplishment beyond just the numbers. Her efforts to raise awareness for environmental issues extend beyond this record, having previously biked from Mexico to Whistler for climate action.
