Tadej Pogačar of UAE Team Emirates secured a significant victory in stage 3 of the UAE Tour at Jebel Jais. He surged to the front in the final moments, successfully overcoming rivals including Oscar Onley and Felix Gall, to claim both his 89th career win and the red jersey as race leader. Pogačar now holds an 18-second advantage over former leader Josh Tarling, who fell off pace toward the race's conclusion. Reflecting on the race, Pogačar expressed joy and gratitude for his team's effort and readiness for upcoming challenges.
It feels amazing. Finally back racing, finally a victory after three days. We are super happy. We did perfectly on a hard day for the guys.
It's really good to win in the rainbow jersey. Part of me hoped that Tarling would hold on to the bunch and he would keep the jersey.
We asked Ineos if they wanted to pay the honours to the jersey from the start, but we were left alone.
It's not finished yet. We have three flat stages, and you never know what happens here. You can lose it really quickly.
